About Seattle Central College

Seattle Central College is a public university in Seattle, Washington. It is one of three colleges that comprise the Seattle Colleges District, along with North Seattle College and South Seattle College.

The college has a large number of international students, who are helped by the International Education Programs division. Also, many immigrants and refugees take ESL classes through the Basic and Transitional Studies division.

Seattle Central College also includes the Wood Construction Center and Seattle Maritime Academy, which are on separate campuses and house the very specialized equipment and work spaces required.

There are 14 fields in which students can obtain degrees and certificates. Popular programs include those in the Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities, Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services, and Health Professions and Related Programs.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is funding that can be used by students to pay for college and is typically given based on need or merit.

Need-based aid is based on your or your family’s ability to pay for college, as shown by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.

Need-based self-help aid includes federal loans and work-study.

Merit-based aid, also known as non-need-based aid, is given out in recognition of a particular talent, athletic prowess, or academic accomplishment.

Here are some of the types of aid available that Seattle Central College offers.

Student Loan

Your financial situation can be impacted by your student loan debt long after you graduate from college. Your total student loan debt should ideally be less than your projected starting salary after graduation.

At Seattle Central College, the average federal loan debt for those who earned their undergraduate degree stands at $11,000. If repaid over 10 years with a 5.05% interest rate, the typical monthly payment for student federal loan borrowers who have graduated would be $110.

Grants And Scholarships

Grants and Scholarships are a form of funding that you are not required to repay. The financial situation of the applicant is taken into consideration for need-based scholarships. Merit-based scholarships are given to students who excel in their academic or athletic pursuits.

You might also be eligible for a scholarship based on your involvement in volunteer work, special interests or traits, personal background, or the job or military service of your parents. Some students receive scholarships that are sufficient to pay for both their tuition fees and living costs.

Work-Study

Work-study programs are yet another excellent way to assist with college costs. These programs offer opportunities for part-time employment in the community or on campus. Earnings can be put toward covering educational costs.

You might be qualified for Seattle Central College’s Federal Work-Study Program or a variety of on-campus employment options.
